Dr. Eddie Estep has served as District Superintendent of the South Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene since October 2024. Kansas City District Church of the Nazarene since March 2018. Prior to that he served as District Superintendent of the Kansas City District Church of the Nazarene (2018-2024), and the South Carolina District Church of the Nazarene (2006-2018), and in pastoral assignments in Columbus (Shepherd), OH (2000-2006), Maysville, KY (1991-2000), Ripley, WV (1987-1991) and Parkersburg (First), WV (staff pastor, 1982-1984).
Eddie received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1982. He graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1987, earning the Master of Divinity degree, and from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1998, earning the Doctor of Ministry degree. Called to preach at the WV District Campground at the age of 15, Eddie was ordained by the West Virginia North District at the same campground in 1988.
Eddie has served on the Board of Directors of the Limestone Family YMCA (Maysville, KY), and ShelterKC (Kansas City, MO), and on the Board of Trustees for Meadowview Regional Medical Center (Maysville, KY), Nazarene Bible College (Colorado Springs, CO), Nazarene Theological Seminary (Kansas City, MO), Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Mount Vernon, OH), where he served as secretary of the board, Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN), where he served as vice-chairman of the board, and MidAmerica Nazarene University, where he served as vice-chairman of the board. He has served on various district boards in Eastern Kentucky and Central Ohio, and as district NYI president in West Virginia North. He was a delegate to Global Theology Conferences in Guatemala City, Guatemala (2002), Johannesburg, South Africa (2014), and Pilar, Argentine (2024). He was elected to the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene at the denomination’s General Assembly in 2005. He presently serves as a member of the District Superintendents Advisory Council (USA/Canada). Additionally, Eddie has been the featured speaker in both college and seminary chapel services, and enjoys speaking at retreats for ministers and their spouses. He has been on numerous mission trips, and has helped train leaders in Eurasia, South America, MesoAmerica, and across the USA. His passion is investing in future and present leaders.
Eddie was born in Charleston, WV and grew up in Paden City, WV. He and his wife, Diane (Doran), met at their home church. They have two children, Josh, a MVNU graduate (business administration) who works for Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio, and Jeff, also a MVNU alum (education) who works in sales and who married Brittany in June 2013. They have four grandchildren, Ellie Kay, Emery Anne, Sunny May, and Parker Lee.
Eddie is the author of a series on Biblical Leadership: WHO’S GOT YOUR BACK? (Beacon Hill Press, 2014), WHO’S BY YOUR SIDE? (Beacon Hill Press, 2016), WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND? (The Foundry, 2020), and WHO CAN BE AGAINST US? (The Foundry, 2023). Eddie is a runner (plodder), an avid canoeist, and a very rusty pilot. He also enjoys hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. Diane, whose passion is marriage and family, is a frequent speaker at Women’s Retreats and Marriage Enrichment events.
